30: Visual Diary Journal

What is a Journal?
Long ago, when ship’s crossed the ocean, a journal was used to keep a record of the daily events and happenings.  Experiences, sightings, and troubles at sea were written in this book. Also, the charting of the ship’s course was logged in.

How can I use my Visual Journal?

  • Releasing feelings
  • Experimenting with techniques and ideas
  • Doing self-assessment
  • Career and life-goal planning
  • Confidence building
  • Creative expression in words and art (PLAY!!!!)

Suggestions
  • Date each entry
  • Express yourself

For this assignment, you will:
  • create a minimum four pages in your journal (for the 7 classes/7 hours given)
  • Express yourself!!!!  Using the page provided (see Visual Diary Mark sheet below...2nd page) identify whether each work is from a perception (an insight or view you have concerning things), a conception (a beginning or an idea you wish to work on), or an experience (something that happened in your life). And then, answer further questions about each work (i.e. what were you trying to express etc.)

Your evaluation for your Visual Diary Journal, is found in the link below.  (The rubric is for the entire submission in your Visual Diary Journal.  The "fill in the answers," is to be answered specifically for each work and then attached to the back of each work/page.  Therefore if you completed five pages, in the five classes given, you will have one rubric for all five pages and 5 "fill in the answers" sheets ).
